The announcement also benefited shares of other Phase 3 participating labs including Moderna Inc (MRNA) which climbed 7.3 percent, while U.S. immunologist Anthony Fauci predicted that the company could post results close to Pfizer’s. Progress has also been accomplished by Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) which added 2.7 percent and CureVac N.V. (CVAC) rose by 8.2 percent.

Biogen Inc (BIIB) (-28%) has lost about a third of its market value after a panel of independent U.S. practitioners at the Drug Agency found that the group’s Alzheimer’s disease experimental therapy did not delay the progression of the disease.

McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) slipped -1.5%. For the year, the fast food giant met sales and profit goals, finishing with delivery and click-collect orders. The company posted earnings per share of $2.35 for the third quarter, up 11 percent from a consensus of $1.90. With the pandemic, sales fell 2% to $5.42 billion, in line with consensus. However, comparable U.S. growth was high at 4.6 percent.

Berkshire Hathaway Inc (BRK-A) gained 5.3 percent, as the firm of Warren Buffett, recorded a one-third decrease in operating profit over the weekend and cautioned that despite the increase in stocks such as Apple, which boosted its net profit, the pandemic could still weigh on its accounts.

F5 Networks Inc (FFIV) added 7.3 percent. Reuters announced that Elliott Management has taken a stake in the IT protection specialist, according to which Elliott has been one of the first shareholders of the company.

Navistar International Corporation (NAV) increased by 0.9 percent after the $3.7 billion acquisition deal was signed with subsidiary of Volkswagen’s heavy goods cars, Traton.
